Real men, real fun, that's the truth

Different points of view. That's for sure! Here is mine. The local bar scene has been up in the air since the Grid closed and Bottoms Up opened. Lucky for us 'old timers' some places still pack a needed punch. I will admit what most guys my age won't. !I like the Hawk! Yes it's not a cool place, if by cool you mean sleek, trendy, or barely legal. I've been around long enough in Cleveland to know what's worth my time and what isn't. When I go out, I'm not looking for true love or a social scene dominated by 'boiz' just out of high school. Also, rap and club music is not my thing either. So that eliminates Twist, Argos, Bottoms Up, and probably several other bars too. Except for the Leather Stallion in season, I find that my regular haunts are limited to only one place. The Hawk. I'll tell you why. The guys may not be the prettiest, but then I'm not looking for pretty. I'm a man and I like men, and the Hawk has plenty of man. Yes, not all are what you'd call hot, but enough of them are certainly good looking. And hot isn't necessary when a guy is straight in appearance. Yes, I have actually hooked up with a trick once in the men's room. Unfortunately, I've never witnessed any orgies, ha ha, but who knows. I've only stayed until last call one time. As for these bizarre reviews I'm reading about farts, well, sometimes men have 'gas.' What can I say? Even classy gentlemen have flatulence sometimes. Anyway I would rather have a straight looking man who passes gas once in a while, as men do, then one who smells like flowers. I'm gay, I'm attracted to men, after all, not girls. No offense. I say, go to the Hawk and have fun. If youre seeking a Greek god, no you won't find him there, but you may just find a fun guy to go home with or even make friends with. The Hawk's got my vote, and yeah, by the way, Chris B. is hot as hell. That's no lie!

Smells like twink and bear spirit

Bartenders: Troy- cute, but a little high strung and in need of ego-stroking. Billy- cute, but a high-maintenance Jewish-American princess. Chris- everyone's fave eye candy, complete with tats. Mike- straight looking and usually friendly. Chris' and Mike's hours have been changing recently, but they usually work Thursday nights, and Troy works Wednesday night and Sunday night. Billy often works Tuesday until 9. The clientele- every gay person from lesbians to twinks to old men to bears to leather curious to geeks. Even a few goths and rockers sometimes. Too many hustlers and white trash, sadly. Sometimes, homeless persons beg for money or drinks, so be careful when you leave. Straight bar next door, but the crowd tends to be harmless. A black beauty parlor is opening on the other side. Is this neighborhood becoming "straighter"? I don't know, but it's always a good idea to go with a friend and watch your surroundings. Car vandalism happens now and then, and gay bashings are not unknown. Here's the most honest thing I can tell you about the Hawk: it's a bar for men who have given up. All the people who say they hook up or make friends or find boyfriends here may be telling the truth. I'm not the most attractive guy, and I'm comfortable with that, and I do go to the Hawk once in a while. But don't make it a habit. Take heed.

Well its not five star. but you can tell they....

are trying well. I like the place because its mixed in general it doesn't cater to just one click the bartenders when they don't know how to make something they at least are humble enough to ask for suggestions other then other places I have gone to that worry about charging ridiculous for ice other then drink. The Hawk its just what it is its not trying to compete with anyone, its just there. the alcohol is real. with one well prepared grey goose mixed I actually felt a buzzed and they have a comfy sort of smoking area, its alright you actually get to meet the locals they have 1 pool table and a music box that if you pay enough it will play even music like unta nook tabut from lord knows where they will have it. now you are going to meet the one or two hustler there and some trolls that just broke out of hell but in general the bartenders keep it safe for all ages above 21 and its a good place to bring a group of your own and disconnect from work. I have done it. although the other comments you find are true very true but if you go out with the non judgmental mentality you can actually make a friend instead of snobby expecting admiration with derision's. I hope this tip helped. oh the good nights I have gone are Wednesday and sunday and tuesday. Fridays too. not every day is the same crowd. most go there after bounce or cocktails late hours and when there it just isn't banging. I like it. the ages you will find there is 25 to 45. if you go tell them I sent you.

Prepared to be Surprised!

The hawk is a great place to go if you are looking for a good social environment with unexpected entertainment, strong drinks and cheap thrills. Where else can you go to buy an inexpensive well drink that is $2.00 and 90% alcohol? On several occasions, I found myself hungover for hours the next day, bordering on alcohol poisoning. I can only blame myself. I like a good stiff drink among other ridgid things, and The Hawk has both. The bar goers are mixed bunch: Men, Women, Blacks, Whites, Gingers, Young, Old, Really Old, Gothic, Twink, Scientologists, and limited quanities of puerto ricans. Some might call it a "Melting Pot", but The Hawk is more like a "Tossed Salad," but that tends to happen towards last call. The Hawk has been coined the neighborhood "watering hole," and that is not because the men are mostly animal-ish or elephant-like, but because it is a social atmosphere. Be surprised! There is always some entertaining drama happening. One time I was using the restroom to powder my nose, and suddenly a bear was thrown through the door. He must have really had to go. Be surprised, you never know what to expect. Bordering on that alcohol poising, I met a guy, made out, puked in his bathroom, and we have been together ever since. The Hawk has it all!
